Madekwe was born South London, England into a family of mixed blood. She has a father who is Nigerian and Swiss as well as her mother is English. Madekwe's US debut was in 2009 when she appeared on her thriller The Beautiful Life. The show aired just two episodes before being ended on The CW. Ashley Davenport, a character from ABC's Revenge drama series, was cast to play Ashley Davenport. After being a regular for the first two seasons, the show was announced late May 2013 that Madekwe would quit the show following an appearance as a guest in the premiere episode from the 3rd season. In the TV series Salem the actress played Tituba from 2014 until the year 2016. Madekwe, her long-time companion, Iddo, married Madekwe in June 2012. They've collaborated in the show Secret Diary of a Call Girl, and he is also a part of the cast on the TV show Salem.

Ashley Leggat is a Gemini-nominated actor who was raised by a big family. She was born to Patty and Roy Leggat. She was raised by both parents Roy and Patty along with four brothers who were older than them: Brett, Todd and Bram twins, Rob, and Brett. Ashley's sports brothers were avid baseball players during the summer months as well as hockey in winter. Ashley could never walk but she was able to dance. When she turned two-and-a-half she took up Baby Ballet and fell in the love. Ashley became a dancer from that moment. After graduating from the high school she attended, Ashley danced competitively in the highest divisions of ballet, tap, jazz and pointe as well as acrobatics, musical theatre, lyrical and hip-hop.
