Mena Alexandra Suvari (born on the 13th of February, 1979) is an American actress, fashion designer and model. After a brief period as a model in the fashion industry before moving into acting by appearing in guest roles on television shows such as Boy Meets World in the 1990s and High Incident. Her film debut came in the dramatic film Nowhere. Then, in American Beauty and American Pie the actress gained more recognition for her roles. Since then she appeared in Loser (2000) along with her American Pie co-star Jason Biggs and later played the main character in the comedy Sugar & Spice (2001). In 2002, she was a part in Spun the drama that was made by an independent studio and in 2004's thriller, Trauma. She also appeared in HBO's series Six Feet Under. She received nominations for the Screen Actors ' Guild Award 2005 for her role in the Outstanding Ensemble. Suvari was also featured in Day of the Dead, The Mysteries of Pittsburg, as well as the film version of The Garden of Eden. Suvari is a model for Lancome cosmetics, as well as printed ads in the brand's Lancome Paris Adaptive and has been featured in several magazine and fashion blogs, such as Vogue. Suvari has been a defender and advocate of the African Medical and Research Foundation which is an established foundation that assists in the relief of Africa. She is also involved with women's empowerment issues as well as working with other organizations to help raise awareness about breast cancer as well as women's rights and the End Violence Against Women Campaign.
